RAMALLAH, Thursday, December 20, 2018 (WAFA) – Work on a new 8.3 kilometer long connecting road financed by China was launched in Ramallah on Thursday in the presence of Palestinian and Chinese officials.

Participants, who included Chinese diplomats, Palestinian officials and the mayor of Ramallah,  praised the strong and historic Chinese-Palestinian relations and China’s support for Palestinian projects.

Ramallah Mayor Moussa Hadid said the road should be completed and ready for use in 14 months.

He said a technical Chinese team has been working with the municipality engineers to over a month on launching this important project that would serve as an access road to Ramallah and al-Bireh twin cities from the north.

The road is supposed to connect the northern suburbs of Ramallah and will connect roads to new residential areas in order to facilitate traffic in the city.

Ramallah is also in the process of building an outer belt road to ease traffic through the often congested city center.
