Israeli poll: Opposition would secure 61 seats, outpacing Netanyahu’s coalition with 48

TEL AVIV, June 27, 2025 (WAFA) – A new Israeli public opinion poll published by Maariv on Friday indicates that if elections were held today, the opposition would secure a parliamentary majority with 61 seats, compared to 48 for the current ruling coalition.

The poll, conducted by the Lazar Research Institute with a sample of 501 Israelis, shows Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party tied with former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s newly formed “Bennett 2026” party, with each projected to win 25 seats in the 120-member Knesset.

According to the results, the opposition bloc—which includes several right-wing, centrist, and left-leaning parties—would cross the 61-seat threshold required to form a government. Arab parties would collectively win 11 seats.

The poll results show that both Likud, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, and Bennett 2026, led by former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, would each secure 25 seats. The Democrats, under Yair Golan, would receive 11 seats, while Avigdor Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu and the ultra-Orthodox Shas party would each win nine seats.

Yair Lapid’s Yesh Atid and Benny Gantz’s National Unity would both obtain eight seats. United Torah Judaism and the far-right Otzma Yehudit, led by ultranationalist Itamar Ben-Gvir, would garner seven seats each. Meanwhile, the United Arab List (Ra’am) would secure six seats, and the Hadash-Ta’al alliance (Joint Arab List) would receive five seats.

The findings reflect growing political pressure on Netanyahu, who is currently on trial for corruption charges and facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court over alleged war crimes. The opposition accuses him of prolonging the war on Gaza in order to cling to power and avoid accountability.
