GAZA, March 19, 2026 (WAFA) – The Rafah border crossing in southern Gaza reopened this morning, Thursday, to allow a group of humanitarian cases, including patients and their companions, to leave Gaza and for stranded individuals to return.
A WAFA correspondent reported that a new group of humanitarian cases, including a small number of patients and their companions, departed from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, after their paperwork and official documents were verified. They then proceeded to the departure hall at the Rafah crossing to continue their treatment in Egyptian hospitals.
The Israeli occupation forces had closed the Rafah crossing, which operates only partially to allow the movement of a limited number of humanitarian cases in both directions, since February 28, coinciding with the outbreak of the Israeli-American war on Iran.
It is worth noting that the number of travelers to and from the Gaza Strip since the reopening of the Rafah crossing has not exceeded 700, despite the need for approximately 18,500 patients and wounded individuals to receive treatment abroad.
