RAMALLAH, September 25, 2016 (WAFA) – The Palestinian government condemned on Sunday the sudden death of Palestinian detainee in Israeli jails Yasser Hamdouni, saying his death was a result of Israel’s medical negligence towards Palestinian detainees and prisoners.
Meanwhile, chairman of the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Commission Essa Qaraqe said the Israeli government and the Israeli prison authorities are responsible for Hamdouni’s death. He called for an international investigation committee to be formed to look into his death, which he described as a “heinous crime”.
He said Hamdouni had only received painkillers by the Israeli prison authorities at times of illness, saying he had not undergone any medical examination despite of a request by the commission to the prison authorities to do so.
