Retired Israeli major says Israel kills children 'as a hobby'

TEL AVIV, May 20, 2025 (WAFA) – The head of the Democratic Party, retired Israeli Major General Yair Golan, criticized the Israeli government for "killing children as a hobby" due to the ongoing genocidal war in Gaza.

In press statements on Tuesday, Golan said, "Israel is on its way to becoming a pariah state, like South Africa was during the apartheid regime, if it does not return to functioning as a rational state. A rational state does not wage war against civilians, does not kill children as a hobby, and does not set goals such as expelling populations."

Golan said of the Israeli government, "It is full of figures that have nothing to do with Judaism, Kahanist figures (named after the fascist Rabbi Meir Kahane), who are mindless, immoral, and incapable of running a state during an emergency.

"This is dangerous to our very existence. Therefore, it is time to change this government as soon as possible so that this war can end."

"We ended the military operation in May-June of last year, and since then the war has entered a phase with less strategic objectives and more political goals for the survival of this government," concluded Golan, a retired general who served as deputy chief of staff of the Israeli army.
