Jerusalem Governorate warns of calls by extremist “Temple Mount” groups to storm Al-Aqsa mosque

JERUSALEM, May 20, 2025 (WAFA) – The Jerusalem Governorate warned against calls made by extremist Zionist “Temple Mount” organizations to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque next Monday, coinciding with the anniversary of the occupation of East Jerusalem during the 1967 June war.

The Governorate stated that this date represents a renewed Nakba each year against the holy city, its residents, and its Islamic and Christian sanctities.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Jerusalem Governorate said that calls published by the organization "The Temple Mount is in Our Hands" to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque, raise Israeli flags inside it, and perform provocative Talmudic rituals under the protection of Israeli police represent a serious escalation and a full-fledged crime against the sanctity of the mosque.

It added that these actions are a blatant attempt to forcibly impose Judaizing realities at the expense of the site's historical and legal status quo.

The Governorate held the Israeli government, particularly Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and extremist minister Itamar Ben Gvir, fully responsible for the consequences of this dangerous escalation. It warned against continued targeting of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which it described as a red line for the Palestinian people and the entire Arab and Islamic nations.

The statement called on the international community, the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Arab League to intervene urgently and assume their responsibilities toward Jerusalem, and to stop the rapid deterioration that these systematic racist policies could lead to, potentially resulting in a full-scale explosion.
