RAMALLAH, February 9, 2016 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Arabic dailies Tuesday focused on a meeting held by Hamas and Fatah officials in Doha on Monday, in what was said to be an effort to achieve a “practical perception” on a long-awaited national reconciliation.
AL-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted remarks by President Mahmoud Abbas who declared “full support” to the current non-violent Palestinian “popular uprising” against the Israeli occupation.
Both al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said Abbas called upon countries to hold an international conference that calls for achieving peace in Palestine and Israel.
The three dailies said Israeli authorities notified Palestinians in Masafer Yatta area, south of Hebron, and in the village of Beit, near Nablus, about their intention to demolish residential and agricultural structures of their own in the two areas, under the pretext of construction without a permit.
The dailies said the Ethics Committee at the Israeli Knesset on Monday banned three Arab MKs from parliamentary activity for several months, following a meeting they held last week with the families of Palestinians shot dead by Israeli forces in Jerusalem in recent weeks.
Al-Quds said the health condition of Mohammad al-Qiq has been gradually deteriorating, following nearly 77 days of hunger strike against administrative detention, without a charge or trial.
