Israeli Forces Detain 25 Palestinians from West Bank Districts

RAMALLAH, January 18, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces overnight detained a total of 25 Palestinians during raids into West Bank districts, reported security sources and a local activist.

The detainees included six members of the Hamed family and two members of the Hammad family. They were identified as Zakariya, 19, and ‘Abdul-Qader Hammad, ‘Abdul-‘Aziz, 22, Hussein, Ibrahim, Majd, Nu‘man, and As‘ad Hamed.

The remaining were identified as Majd ‘Ayyad, and his brother, Haitham, Ahmad al-Sarraj, Ibrahim al-Salhi and Anwar Shweikiya.

During the extensive house-to-house detention and search raid, forces reportedly detonated the doors of several houses and seized two vehicles.

Meanwhile in the southern West Bank district of Hebron, forces detained eight Palestinians during predawn raids into several Hebron neighborhoods, towns and villages.

Forces detained Mu‘min al-Atrash after storming and tampering with the contents of his house in a Hebron city neighborhood.

Forces also detained Islam al-Mahariq after breaking into and ransacking his family’s house during a raid into al-Samu‘ town.

Two more Palestinians were detained during a predawn raid into Yatta town. Coordinator of the Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlements Ratib al-Jabour identified them as Ziad al-Nawaj‘a, a member of Hebron district Fatah committee, and Khalid al-Jundi, 38.

Furthermore, forces detained four Palestinians during an overnight raid into Karma village, south of Hebron.

The detainees were identified as Hazim Abu Sheikha, 28, his brother, Nasser, 39, and his relative, Muhammad, 48, as well as Isma‘il al-‘Awawdeh, 65.

Forces also raided the Hebron towns and villages of Deir Samet, Adh-Dhahiriya, Karma and Beit Omra, where they stormed and ransacked several houses.

In the meantime, two Palestinians were detained from the northern West Bank district of Nablus.

Forces detained Mahmoud al-Tabbuq, 27, after raiding his house in Nablus city, whereas Mujahed Jarab, was detained by soldiers at Huwwara checkpoint.

In Jerusalem’s Old City, police detained a Palestinian from Hatta neighborhood, located in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. He was identified as Hamza Melhis.

In Bethlehem district, forces detained a Palestinian after storming and wreaking havoc into his family house in Rabaj Marah village, south of the city.

The young man was identified as Mu‘adh al-Sheikh, 23.
