JERUSALEM, June 11, 2015 (WAFA) – Israeli forces early Thursday
detained eight Palestinians, including four minors, from West Bank districts,
said local security sources and activist.
Israeli police raided early morning the East Jerusalem neighborhood
of al-Issawiya and detained five Palestinians.
The detainees were identified as Tarek al-Kharouf, 16, Saleh Abu Assab,
16, Husam, 16, and Younes Alayyan, 19, and Laith Darwish, 17.
This came hours after clashes erupted between Palestinians and
Israeli police as the latter attempted to abduct a Palestinian child in the
Silwan neighborhood of Ayn al-Louza allegedly for hurling stones at them.
Palestinian residents managed to secure the release of the child
after Israeli police detained him as he was walking close to his home.
During the clashes, police fired stun grenades and tear gas
canisters at the residents and their homes, causing many to suffer from the
effects of tear gas inhalation.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center said Palestinian families
complainded about recurrent police raids of their neighborhood and constant
provocation, especially that police members are usually extensively deployed in
the afternoon while children are on their way back home from school.
Meanwhile in Hebron district, Israeli forces raided Beit Ummar town
to the north of the city, detaining two Palestinian residents after breaking
into and ransacking their homes.
The detainees were identified by Spokesperson for the anti-Settlement
Popular Committee Muhammad Awad as Salah, 38, and Muhammad Za‘aqiq, 20.
During the raid, soldiers broke into several homes, holding
families back and taking photos of their homes and interiors.
Two homeowners were identified as Jamal al-Alami and Abdul-Aziz Abu
Ayyash.
Awad added that soldiers stationed at a checkpoint to the north of
Bethlehem, the Container, stopped and detained another resident of Beit Ummar.
The detainee was identified as Iyad Ikhlail, 35, a lawyer and
Chairman of Beit Ummar Youth Sports Club.
In the meantime in Jenin district, forces raided Anin village to
the west of the city, where they broke into and ransacked several homes and
interrogated homeowners.
Two were identified as Radi Khadour and Awad Melhem. Israeli forces
also stormed Kferet village, sparking clashes with villagers.
During the clashes, forces fired tear gas canisters, causing
several people to suffer from tear gas inhalation, including two children
identified as Karam and Muhammad Ighbariya.
