RAMALLAH, June 10, 2015 (WAFA)
– The three Palestinian Arabic dailies highlighted on Wednesday ongoing talks
by government officials aimed at setting the annual public budget for the
fiscal year 2015.
They said the council of
ministers began talks on setting the annual budget, but also said the new
budget proposal will likely include austerity measures.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida
quoted Israeli Army Minister Moshe Ya’alon as saying that he does not believe a
stable peace agreement could be reached with the Palestinians in his lifetime.
Al-Quds said Ya’alon threatened
to resume the policy of assassinations of resistance leaders in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Quds said Palestinian
officials welcomed the United States’ Supreme Court ruling which decided that
Americans born in Jerusalem could not list Israel as their birthplace on
passports.
The three dailies said the
Israeli authorities released Aziz Dweik, Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative
Council (PLC), after one year of imprisonment. Dweik was arrested along another
600 Hamas and Islamic Jihad officials during a crackdown in the West Bank
following the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli settlers.
Al-Ayyam said an Israeli court
in Jerusalem deferred the trial of the killers of Mohammad Abu Khdeir to
upcoming September.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Azzam
al-Ahmad, Fatah official in charge of reconciliation with Hamas, who said the
Palestinian Authority was waiting the response of Hamas regarding its
willingness to enable the government to assume its duties in Gaza.
