RAMALLAH, May 14, 2015 (WAFA) -
The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Palestinian Territory increased
in April 2015 by 0.88% compared to the previous month, the Palestinian Central
Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said Thursday.
It said CPI increased by 1.55% in
the West Bank, and by 0.16% in Jerusalem, while it slightly decreased by 0.06%
in the Gaza Strip.
April CPI increased by 2.64% when
compared to April 2014; it increased by 4.18% in the Gaza Strip, 1.67% in the
West Bank, and by 0.21% in Jerusalem.
It said that CPI during the first
four months of 2015 increased by 1.09% compared with the same period of the
previous year.
The change in CPI for April was
attributed to the increase in prices of fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, potatoes
and other tubers, gas, and fresh poultry, which increased by 14.75%, 13.07%, 5.95%,
2.62%, and 0.98%, respectively.
Changes were further attributed to increase in prices of fresh meat by 0.68%.
