TEL AVIV, May 11, 2015 (WAFA) – The Dutch government has decided to cut down the monthly pensions paid to the Holocaust survivors who have settled in illegal West Bank settlements, reported the Israel Chanel 10.

The decision by the Dutch government infuriated Israel, according to the channel.

Four days ago, Holland decided to cut down the pension payments of a Dutch Holocaust survivor, who recently immigrated to Israel and settled in an illegal settlement in the “West Jordan Bank,” Israeli Channel II said.

In addition to financial help from the Israeli Justice Ministry, the woman, identified only as “D”, was receiving a 1,100 euro ($1,234) monthly pension from the Netherlands, as well as additional assistance for her status as a Holocaust survivor.

Several months after moving to Israel to a community near Modi'in, D's son told Channel II, that 'she received a letter' from the Dutch government, which read: “Dear lady, because you went to live in the West Jordan Bank and we have no agreement with this periphery, we are obligated to deduct a large amount from your old-age pension.”

In March 2013, the Dutch government, for the first time, asked retail chains in the country to state the origin of products from West Bank settlements, East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, making it the second country in the European Union, after Britain, to recommend so.

Israeli settlements in the West Bank and the Golan Heights are illegal under international law. Settlers living in the West Bank are also not considered as Israeli citizens in many countries.
