RAMALLAH, May 10, 2015 (WAFA) – The
three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused on Sunday on the European Union’s
condemnation of recently approved Israeli settlement tenders in East Jerusalem.
The dailies quoted a UN spokesperson as
saying that Israel's determination to
continue its settlement policy despite the urging of the international
community, not only threatens the viability of the two state solution but also
seriously calls into question its commitment to a negotiated agreement with the
Palestinians.
The three dailies said that a former
prisoner in Israeli jails; 33-year-old Rami Shalamish from Jenin, died on
Saturday of a neurological disease which had progressed due to Israeli medical
negligence during his imprisonment sentence.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said
President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in the Russian capital Moscow to participate in
the country’s 70th anniversary of its victory over the
Nazi Germany.
Al-Quds said three Palestinians were
injured on Saturday by Israeli live bullets near the border east of
Khan Younes in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Ayyam said the Islamic Resistance
Movement, Hamas, insisted that former Palestinian Authority employees cannot be
reinstated into the civil service before former Hamas government employees in
Gaza are recognized by Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah’s government.
Al-Ayyam quoted a German newspaper as
saying that the new Israeli government coalition is doomed to failure, and that
it could face isolation by the international community.
Al-Ayyam quoted Israel Channel II as
reporting that foreign fighter jets bombed an arms convoy belonging to
Hezbollah in Syria, killing at least one Hezbollah fighter.
On a different subject, al-Hayat
al-Jadida said 43,383 university graduates in Palestine attended the employment
examination administered by the Ministry of Education on Saturday.
