RAMALLAH, April 27, 2015 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Monday issue on the Palestinian intelligence role in helping release two Swedish hostages, who were held for 17 months by the al-Qaeda-affiliated Nusra Front in Syria and were released recently.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Palestinian intelligence role in the operation that helped release the two hostages came under the title “Giving Back to the Swedish Kingdom”, for its supportive stands with the Palestinian people, particularly Sweden's recent recognition of the State of Palestine.
On a different topic, al-Quds said Israeli soldiers attacked and physically assaulted two reporters during a demonstration against settlement construction in the village of Nabi Saleh, northwest of Ramallah, last Friday.
Al-Ayyam said confrontations renewed between Israeli police and Palestinians across Jerusalem on Saturday, a day after the Israeli police shot dead a Palestinian teenager in the city, claiming he had attempted to stab a police officer.
Al-Quds said the UNRWA urged the donor countries to lend a helping hand to help salvage the besieged al-Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said hundreds of Palestinian refugees took to the streets in al-Yarmouk; calling for food items to be allowed into the besieged camp.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam reported on a noticeable progress in the ongoing talks on forming a new government coalition in Israel, a month after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remained in power for a fourth term.
