American-Italian Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler car dealership in Hebron on November 6th,
said a press release issued by U.S. Consulate General's press office in Jerusalem.
Under local management and
ownership, the new dealership is an additional auto showroom for the American
brand’s cars in the Palestinian market and marks investor confidence in the
Hebron as a place for business and profit.
Ratney joined Palestinian
Authority Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa, auto executives from the
American/Italian auto company Chrysler/Fiat, as well as local dignitaries to inaugurate
the opening of the new car dealership in Hebron.
Consul General Ratney commented
that, “Hebron is a vital center of industry and commerce in the West Bank, and
I am proud to see American cars being sold here.”
During a visit to Al-Salam
Cooling, a frozen food company which has received USAID funds to prepare and
package local fruits and vegetables for local sale, Ratney learned about the
opportunities and challenges local companies face in sourcing their inputs and
in transporting their goods to market and noted the broad impact that
individual companies, such as Al Salam Cooling, which purchases the vegetables
it uses from West Bank farmers, can have in generating employment and creating
economic opportunities for others.
“I commend those
Palestinian entrepreneurs who, through hard work and perseverance, generate
jobs and bring enormous benefits to the businesses that supply them and to
their communities,” Consul General concluded.
