RAMALLAH, March 24, 2014 (WAFA) –
Member of the central committee of Fatah Nabil Shaath Monday said the Israeli government’s
demand for Palestinians to recognize Israel as a Jewish state is 'the
ideological interpretation’ to justify Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian
Territory.
Shaath said in a press statement on
Monday: “The Israelis want us to recognize that they have not occupied our
land; if we recognize the jadishness of Israel then the Israelis will consider
this a confirmation from our side that Palestine is their native land,”
stressing that this would never happen.
“Such recognition would threaten the
right of return and threaten Palestinians living in Israel, which means the
withdrawal of their citizenship,” asserted Shaath.
Shaath warned from Israeli Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent statement in which he said some
settlements in the West Bank are mentioned in the Torah, which forces Israel to
stay in the West Bank. Shaath described this as “falsification of reality on
the ground.”
