CAIRO, October 11, 2026 (WAFA) – The State of Palestine has submitted a request to the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States to convene an extraordinary session of the League Council at the level of permanent representatives as soon as possible. The session aims to discuss mechanisms for providing international protection to the Palestinian people and ensuring respect for international law and international legitimacy resolutions regarding the legal status of the city of Jerusalem.
Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the Arab League, stated to the Wafa news agency on Sunday that the upcoming session will address avenues for Arab and international action in light of escalating attacks by Israeli occupation forces and armed colonists against the Palestinian people and their property—attacks carried out with the protection and support of the occupation government and its army.
He added that these attacks occur within the context of a systematic policy aimed at displacing Palestinian communities, expanding colonial settlement activities, and undermining the two-state solution.
Al-Aklouk noted that the meeting will also address violations targeting the city of Jerusalem and its international legal status, in light of moves by certain countries to open embassies in the city.
