HELSINKI, September 24, 2026 (WAFA) — Norway today announced an additional 125 million Norwegian kroner (approximately $13.2 million) in assistance to Palestine through United Nations and World Bank channels, including budget support for the Palestinian public sector.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said the need for international support for Palestine is “greater than ever,” as Gaza continues to face the consequences of the war and severe restrictions on access to food, clean water, electricity and healthcare.

The Norwegian government said reconstruction efforts in Gaza remain hampered by the scale of destruction, shortages of resources and continued uncertainty over future developments. Eide said Norway is among the countries pressing for early recovery and reconstruction efforts to begin, stressing the need to accelerate the process and increase humanitarian assistance.

Eide also called for implementation of the 20-point peace plan adopted by the UN Security Council last year and stressed the importance of Palestinian ownership of reconstruction efforts.

Norway recognized the State of Palestine in 2024 and currently chairs the international donor group for the Palestinians.
