TEL AVIV, September 24, 2026 (WAFA) - The Israeli occupation authorities on Thursday approved two plans involving the construction of 567 new colonial units in the Hebron Governorate.

One plan envisages the construction of 342 colonial units in the Asa’el colony, built on the lands of As-Samu town, and 225 others in the colony of Beit Hagai, built on lands of Al-Rihiya in Dura town.

The occupation authorities had previously advanced the two plans through earlier planning stages. During a session of the so-called “Planning Council” on September 23, they were moved to the approval stage, which renders the plans effective and paves the way for completing implementation and construction procedures.

The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission (CWRC) said that the latest approvals are part of an accelerated policy to expand settler-colonialism and grant planning status to colonies sites, particularly as the Asa’el plan constitutes a key step toward completing the colony’s planning status, while the Beit Hagai plan will significantly expand its size.

It stressed that these measures cannot be separated from the process of altering Palestinian geography in the southern West Bank by expanding the area designated for colonial settlement construction, strengthening the seizure of land, and linking colonies through roads and infrastructure.
