RAMALLAH, March 29, 2026 (WAFA) – The Environment Quality Authority confirmed that it conducted field tests and direct monitoring of air quality in the southern areas of the Hebron governorate following the industrial area incident in the Negev, in coordination with relevant authorities and with continuous round-the-clock follow-up.
The Authority stated on Sunday evening that, based on initial measurements by its teams, pollutant levels in the air, including gases and suspended particles, remain within natural and safe limits and do not indicate any environmental or health effects that require concern at present.
It added that its teams continue environmental monitoring, testing, and measurements on an ongoing basis, while the Civil Defense maintains field readiness to respond to any emergency, in coordination with the relevant authorities, assuring that citizens will be informed immediately of any developments requiring attention.
The Authority and Civil Defense confirmed that they are continuously following field developments resulting from the Negev industrial area incident around the clock, in coordination with the relevant authorities, noting that the situation remains under careful observation.
In this context, the Environment Quality Authority and the Civil Defense reassured citizens, particularly in the southern areas of the Hebron governorate, that there is no cause for concern at this stage. For public safety, both authorities urged citizens to follow information issued by official sources only and to avoid spreading rumors or unverified news.
They also recommended that, in the event of noticing unusual odors or abnormal symptoms, residents should remain indoors, temporarily close windows, and contact the relevant medical authorities, while fully complying with any instructions issued by official bodies.
They emphasized that citizens’ safety remains a top priority, urging the public to remain calm and follow developments through official channels.
