Presidential Committee for Church Affairs congratulates Palestinian people, Muslims on anniversary of the birth of Prophet Mohammed

RAMALLAH, August 24, 2026 (WAFA) – The Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs in Palestine congratulated the Palestinian people and the Muslim nation on the occasion of Mawlid al-Nabawi, the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Mohammed.

The Committee expressed its hope that the occasion would bring goodness and peace, and that the Palestinian people would attain freedom and independence and establish their independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital.

Ramzi Khouri, member of the Palestine Liberation Organization Executive Committee and head of the Higher Presidential Committee for Church Affairs, said that the occasion comes this year amid the difficult circumstances facing the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

He affirmed that the Palestinian people, Muslims and Christians alike, continue to stand firm and remain committed to their land, national rights, and holy sites despite the ongoing occupation and its attacks.

Khoury stressed the importance of the humanitarian values embodied by the occasion, foremost among them supporting the oppressed, safeguarding human dignity, and promoting the values of mercy, peace, and justice.

He stressed the need to continue standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people, end their suffering, and bring the occupation to an end.

The committee renewed its emphasis on national and spiritual unity among the Palestinian people, Muslims and Christians alike, as a fundamental pillar in confronting the occupation and defending their land and holy sites, toward achieving freedom and independence and establishing an independent State of Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital.
