JERUSALEM, August 26, 2026 (WAFA) - Israeli occupation intelligence on Wednesday held Jerusalem Affairs Minister Ashraf al-Aawar in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, according to the Jerusalem Governorate.

It reported that occupation intelligence briefly detained Minister al-Aawar while he was at the condolence gathering, as part of the ongoing restrictions imposed on Palestinian Jerusalemite officials.

Several days ago, the occupation forces arrested al-Aawar at his home in Silwan before releasing him on bail following hours of interrogation.

The occupation authorities had previously issued an order barring Minister al-Aawar from entering the West Bank.
