BEIJING, August 26, 2026 (WAFA) - Palestinian Ambassador to China Jawad Awad discussed on Wednesday with a Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs official developments in the occupied Territory.
Ambassador Awad and Gao Biao, Deputy Director-General of the Ministry’s Department of West Asian and North African Affairs, addressed the catastrophic humanitarian and living conditions endured by the Palestinian people in the genocide-stricken Gaza Strip.
Ambassador Awad conveyed a message from President Mahmoud Abbas to his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping concerning bilateral relations and ways to develop them, as well as a number of issues of mutual concern, particularly those related to the UN and upcoming Palestinian political moves.
Awad briefed the Chinese diplomat on the ongoing Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, as well as on detention raids, property demolition, land grab and the tightened restrictions on Palestinians’ freedom of movement. He also highlighted the escalation of colonists’ attacks against Palestinians, their property and their lands.
He addressed the dangers posed by the E1 colonial settlement plan, which threatens to sever the territorial contiguity of the West Bank and isolate East Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings, undermining the possibility of establishing an independent and geographically contiguous Palestinian state and threatening prospects for implementing the two-state solution.
For his part, Gao affirmed the continued support of China for the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s legitimate national rights, expressing his country’s condemnation of colonists’ attacks and Israeli practices that contravene international law and UN resolutions.
Gao reaffirmed China’s unwavering position in support of reaching a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution, international law and the UN resolutions in such a way that guarantees the Palestinian people their legitimate national rights and the establishment of their independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
