Despite ceasefire, Gaza death toll continues to rise, reaching 72,253 since October 2023

GAZA, March 18, 2026 (WAFA) – Although a ceasefire in Gaza went into effect on October 11, the death toll in the Gaza Strip has continued to rise, reaching 72,253, mostly women and children, since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October 2023. At least 171,912 others have also been injured.

This toll remains incomplete, as many victims remain trapped under rubble, inaccessible to ambulance and rescue crews.

Medical sources said that during the past 24 hours, four bodies and 14 injured individuals were brought to hospitals in Gaza.

Since the ceasefire went into effect on October 11, the number of those killed and injured has reached 677 and 1,813, respectively. At least 756 bodies have also been recovered from under the rubble.
