U.S Human rights organizations warn of escalating forced displacement in Hebron

RAMALLAH, October 27, 2026 (WAFA) — Human rights organizations in the United States have warned of escalating forced displacement carried out by Israeli forces in the city of Hebron.

The organizations said Israel’s assault on Hebron in recent days has displaced more than 2,000 Palestinians from their homes, amid fears that they may be prevented from returning.

Women and children have been forced to leave their homes abruptly, as demolitions target hundreds of homes and commercial establishments in measures the organizations described as collective punishment of the Palestinian population.

They said the developments in Hebron are part of a broader campaign targeting the Palestinian presence in the occupied West Bank. Israeli military operations since 2025, they noted, have displaced around 40,000 Palestinians from Jenin and Tulkarem, marking one of the largest waves of forced displacement since 1967.

The human rights groups said these practices violate international law, warning that military tactics used in the Gaza Strip could be replicated in West Bank cities.

They also criticized the continued US and Western support for Israel, arguing that the absence of international accountability contributes to the ongoing violations against Palestinian civilians.

The organizations called on the U.S administration and members of Congress to take immediate action to halt forced displacement and home demolitions, hold Israeli officials accountable for violations against Palestinians, and end the use of American taxpayers’ money to support Israeli military operations.
