CEC concludes adjudication of challenges to the voters’ registry

AL-BIREH, February 18, 2026 (WAFA) - The Central Elections Commission (CEC), announced today, Wednesday, that it has finished the revision of all challenges and appeals against the preliminary voters’ registry during the exhibition and challenges stage.

The CEC noted that it received a total of 194 applications during the exhibition and challenges stage, including challenges against others, data correction requests, and data updates for holders of foreign passports. All applications were processed in accordance with the legal and administrative procedures in place, in a manner that guarantees accuracy and justice.

The CEC indicated that it accepted 131 applications, while 63 other applications were rejected after finalizing the verification of documents and relevant details, with only one appeal submitted to the Election Cases Court. It should be noted that these figures confirm the integrity, accuracy, and professionalism of the Commission’s work, and its commitment to enabling citizens to exercise their right to objection and appeal within the guaranteed legal safeguards.

Moreover, the CEC added that with the official ruling of the Court concerning the only submitted appeal, the exhibition and challenges stage concludes, and the final voters’ registry becomes final and approved for nomination and polling.

The CEC mentioned that it is currently preparing to move to the next stage of the electoral process, which comprises receiving nomination applications, during the period extending from the morning of February 23 until the afternoon of March 1, in accordance with the announced legal periods and timeline.
