Gaza death toll reaches 61,897 since start of Israeli aggression in October 2023 - Medical sources

GAZA, August 16, 2025 (WAFA) - The death toll in the Gaza Strip has reached 61,897, the majority of whom were women and children, since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October 2023. At least 155,660 others have also been injured.

This toll remains incomplete, as many victims remain trapped under rubble, inaccessible to ambulance and rescue crews.

Medical sources confirmed that since Israel broke its ceasefire agreement and resumed its aggression on the Gaza Strip on March 18, 2025, at least 10,362 civilians have been killed and 43,619 others have been injured.

Sources stated that 70 bodies, including eight bodies that were recovered from under rubble, and 385 injured individuals were brought to hospitals in Gaza during the past 24 hours.

During the past 24 hours, 26 aid seekers were killed and 175 were injured and brought to hospitals, bringing the total number of those killed while seeking aid and brought to hospitals to 1,924, with 14,288 injured.

Hospitals in the Gaza Strip recorded 11 deaths over the past 24 hours due to famine and malnutrition, including one child, bringing the total number to 251, including 108 children.
