JERICHO, Wednesday, August 10, 2022 (WAFA) – Israeli military bulldozers today razed a dwelling and a sheep barn in al-Ouja village, north of Jericho, according to a local activist, and notified the demolition of others.
Hassan Mleihat, the General Supervisor of al-Baidar Organization for Bedouin Rights, a human rights organization, told WAFA that Israeli soldiers escorted a bulldozer to the Arab al-Zawahra community, in the plains of al-Ouja village, where the heavy machinery tore down a brick-and-tin dwelling and a sheep barn owned by a local resident located near an army camp.
Meanwhile, a military force showed up at al-Wad al-Ahmar Bedouin community in Fasayil village and handed four residents notification of the imminent demolition of their dwellings.
Ten kilometers north of Jericho, al-Ouja has a population of some 5,470 and occupies a total area of some 107,000 dunums.
Israel has seized at least 2,257dunams belonging to the village for the construction of four nearby colonial settlements, 2,152 dunums for the construction of a military base, besides more land for opening settler-only by-pass roads, pushing the villagers into a crowded enclave, a ghetto, surrounded by walls, settlements and military installations.
