RAMALLAH, Monday, January 31, 2022 (WAFA) – The overall Producer Price Index (PPI) in Palestine with its base year (2019=100) reached 98.04 in 2021, indicating an increase by 2.67% compared to 2020, according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).
PCBS said in a press statement that prices of PPI for 2021 increased due to the increase in the prices of goods in water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities by 25.02%, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply activities by 4.35%, manufacturing activities by 3.80%, and mining and quarrying activities by 0.68%.
It pointed that the prices of goods in agriculture, forestry and fishing activities decreased by 2.73% in 2021 compared to 2020.
The prices of local exported products increased by 6.72%, and the prices of locally consumed products increased by 2.23%.
The overall PPI for Palestine with its base year (2019 = 100) reached 99.36 in December 2021, as it decreased by 0.35% compared to November 2021.
Furthermore, PCBS said that PPI for local exported products (2019 = 100) reached 106.81 in December 2021, which indicates a decrease of 0.48% compared to November 2021.
PPI for locally consumed products (2019 = 100) reached 98.57 in December 2021, which indicates a decrease of 0.33% compared to November 2021.
PCBS noted that due to COVID-19 pandemic and the inability to conduct face-to-face interviews, data for PPI has been collected using mobile phones.
