Newspapers Review: Wedding of Tent Neighborhood Focus of Dailies

RAMALLAH, March 24, 2013 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Sunday highlighted the wedding ceremony of two Palestinians from Jenin and Hebron in the neighborhood of Ahfad Younis on the ruins of Bab al-Shams tent village, east of Jerusalem.

The papers reported on the bride and the groom, who arrived in Ahfad Younis neighborhood to celebrate their marriage, which represents life and resistance in Bab al-Shams tent village and protests the illegal act of confiscation of Palestinian land.

Al-Ayyam printed a photo of Palestinian girls singing and celebrating the Palestinian wedding in Ahfad al-Shams with Palestine’s flag flying high in the background.

Al-Ayyam headline read: “[Secretary of State John] Kerry holds talks with [President Mahmoud] Abbas and [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu to resume negotiation.”

Al-Hayat al-Jadida printed a photo of Abbas and Kerry during their meeting in Amman, during which Abbas briefed Kerry on the dangerous consequences of settlement activities on the peace process.

Abbas said: “Palestine to the International Criminal Court if Israel commences settlement activity in E1.”

Al-Hayat al-Jadida featured an article over the United States President Barack Obama’s speech in Ramallah, saying that he scored “unexpected success on Middle East trip.”
