GAZA, June 11, 2025 (WAFA) – Medical sources in the Gaza Strip have described the health situation in northern Gaza as catastrophic, following the complete shutdown of all hospitals in the area.
The remaining few operational hospitals across the Strip are on the brink of collapse, overwhelmed by severe shortages that make it nearly impossible to continue delivering health services, the sources said.
They reported that hundreds of patients and wounded individuals are suffering due to the inability to complete essential medical interventions, as what remains of the healthcare system is severely depleted.
Extreme overcrowding has been reported in the remaining medical facilities, as Israeli forces continue to prevent the entry of life-saving medical supplies.
Emergency solutions and first-aid interventions, the sources added, “have lost meaning” as health and humanitarian indicators continue to deteriorate to “irreversible levels.”
Gaza has been facing a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe since March 2, when Israel closed all border crossings, barring the entry of food, medicine, aid, and fuel — amid ongoing military operations that human rights groups and international legal experts describe as genocidal.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has waged a campaign in Gaza marked by mass killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement — in defiance of international calls and multiple rulings by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering a halt to the assault.
The ongoing genocide has resulted in over 182,000 people killed or injured, the majority of them women and children. More than 11,000 people remain missing, while hundreds of thousands have been displaced. Widespread famine has claimed numerous lives — including children — and massive destruction has devastated the Strip.
