GAZA, June 12, 2025 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces deployed additional troops and bulldozers to Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank on Thursday, in what appears to be preparation for a large-scale home demolition operation, according to local sources.
The reinforcements reportedly entered through the Al-Jalama military checkpoint, heading toward the camp areas previously marked for demolition. On Monday, Israeli authorities issued demolition notices targeting 95 homes in the camp, particularly in the western neighborhood and along Al-Sikka and Abdullah Azzam streets.
Jenin Municipality reported that Israeli forces have already demolished approximately 600 homes — either partially or completely — in the camp since the latest offensive began on January 21.
The ongoing military campaign has significantly escalated in refugee camps across the northern West Bank, particularly in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams. Humanitarian groups estimate that the number of displaced residents from these camps has now exceeded 50,000.
Residents and officials warn that Israel’s continued destruction of homes, infrastructure, and civilian facilities is part of a broader strategy to alter the identity and structure of the refugee camps, erasing their historical and social significance.
