RAMALLAH, January 9, 2012 (WAFA) - Hamas leaders have admitted that there are pockets in the movement who oppose achieving reconciliation, Fatah Central Committee member Nabil Shaath said Monday.
Shaath, who just returned to Ramallah following a week-long visit to the Gaza Strip which he described as excellent, told Voice of Palestine radio that in spite of what happened on Friday when Hamas members prevented a ranking Fatah delegation from entering the Strip the Palestinian leadership is determined to end the division.
“People can’t tolerate that someone prevents someone else from entering their own country,” he said.
He affirmed that the talks between the Palestinian factions were positive and determined to continue efforts to achieve unity.
