RAMALLAH, November 28, 2011 (WAFA) – November 29 marks the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the partition resolution 181 in 1947.
The partition resolution 181 provided for the establishment of a Jewish state and an Arab state, with Jerusalem as a corpus separatum under a special international regime.
Fatah movement, in commemoration of this day, affirmed the Palestinian people’s rights and called on the international community to impose its laws to end the occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
It said, “The Israeli occupation continues to deny the Palestinians’ historical rights and deprive their rights to transportation, natural resources and freedom.”
The Palestinian National Council, in a statement, called on the UN and international organizations to stop the Israeli terrorism, which violates the international law.
It called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council and the countries that oppose Palestine’s full membership in the UN, to reconsider their position and do justice to the Palestinian people.
Minister of Culture, Siham Barghouti said that “Despite of the Palestinian division, the amount of Israeli violations is alerting the international institutions that support peace and freedom.”
She added, “We must organize several actions to activate the media’s role to raise awareness on the Palestinian rights and the Israeli violations against Palestinians.”
