MOSCOW, August 31, 2010 (WAFA)- Israel opposes a moratorium on West Bank settlement activity, the country’s ambassador to Russia, Anna Azari, said during a press-briefing in Moscow Tuesday, Voice of Russia reported.
She said the moratorium was introduced in November of 2009 “in order to force the Autonomy to sit down to talk”. But now that the sides have agreed to resume peace negotiations, there is no need in extending the moratorium. Meanwhile, the Palestinians insist that a stop to West Bank settlement expansion is a key condition for peace with Israel.
