Elderly woman injured in attack by colonists in Al-Maniya, near Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, May 15, 2026 (WAFA) – An elderly Palestinian woman suffered a broken arm on Friday after being attacked by Israeli colonists in the village of Al-Maniya, southeast of Bethlehem.

Ahmad Kawazba, head of the Al-Maniya village council, told WAFA that colonists attacked homes belonging to the Sawarka family located along the bypass road near the Al-Maniya roundabout south of the village.

The assault resulted in elderly resident Salima Sawarka sustaining a fracture to her right arm. She was transferred to Beit Jala Governmental Hospital for treatment.

Kawazba added that the colonists also attempted to attack homes belonging to the Jabarin family in the al-Qarn area, but local residents confronted them and prevented them from approaching.

Residents of Al-Maniya have faced an escalation in colonist attacks in recent months, including attempted vehicle-ramming incidents, arson attacks targeting homes and cars, and the harassment of shepherds to prevent them from accessing grazing lands and their property.
