DOHA, May 15, 2026 (WAFA) – The State of Qatar condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, as well as provocative practices and violations carried out by Israeli colonists under the protection of Israeli forces, including restrictions on worshippers’ access to the mosque.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Qatari Foreign Ministry described the actions as a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and an unacceptable provocation to the feelings of millions of Muslims worldwide.

The ministry said the actions represented a dangerous attempt to impose a new reality in occupied Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

It stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims and that all unilateral measures aimed at changing the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites are null and void under international law.

The ministry warned that the continuation of such repeated provocations could fuel further violence and escalation in the region and undermine efforts toward calm and stability.

Qatar renewed its call on the international community to take urgent action to compel Israel, as the occupying power, to halt its ongoing violations against the Palestinian people and their holy sites and to comply with relevant international resolutions.

The ministry also reaffirmed Qatar’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, based on ending the occupation and enabling Palestinians to attain their legitimate rights, foremost among them the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
