AMMAN, August 31, 2010 (WAFA)- On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) has pledged US$69,000 to 'feed the fasting' in the Gaza Strip upon the directive of the President of the KRCS, Mr Barges Al Barges.

Welcoming the donation, Peter Ford, Representative of the Commissioner-General of UNRWA, said: 'This generous donation will be utilised to provide the neediest refugees in Gaza with hot and nutritious meals for Iftaar. In Ramadan, UNRWA, with the generous support of partners such as the KRCS, aims to provide the most vulnerable refugees with additional nutritional support during this critical time.'

Earlier this year the Kuwait Red Crescent Society donated $277,000 to allow woman-headed families in the Gaza Strip to rehabilitate their shelters which were damaged during the Israeli attack on Gaza in December 2008 - January 2009.
