Ban Disappointed at Israeli Continued Violence in Gaza

NEW YORK, January 10, 2009 (WAFA)- UN Secretary-general Ban Ki-moon said he was disappointed at the continued violence in Gaza after the adoption of a Security Council resolution urging immediate ceasefire, UN spokesperson Michele Montas said.

Ban has called Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, and expressed 'his disappointment that violence is continuing on the ground in disregard of yesterday's Security Council resolution,' Montas stated.

Israel had declared, earlier, that it will continue its ground offensive in the Gaza Strip despite the UN resolution calling for an immediate halt of violence, that leads to a full Israeli withdrawal.
