Subeeh: Arab League Promotes Peace Initiative Amidst Tough Conditions
CAIRO, May 9, 2007 (WAFA) - Arab League Assistant Secretary General for Palestine Affairs Ambassador Mohammad Subeeh said Wednesday the league was lobbying support for its peace initiative amidst tough and complicated international and regional conditions.
The international community is virtually unanimous in welcoming the initiative which drew support even inside Israel, he pointed out in an interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
A tripartite meeting will be held in Egypt involving foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and Israel to ponder the initiative and explore Israel's reaction to it On the sidelines of the recent Iraq's neighbors conference in Sharm El-Sheikh the Arab side met the international quartet on the Middle East peace process to explain the initiative.
An Arab delegation will meet the OIC Troika in Pakistan mid May on the fringe of the foreign ministers meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference to lobby support for the initiative from the Muslim world, Subeeh added.
