IOF Sweeps into WB, Arrests Civilians
PALESTINIAN TERRITORIES, March 15, 2004, (WAFA)- Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) thrust early Monday into various areas in the West Bank, witnesses and security sources said.... Witnesses told WAFA that IOF, backed by tanks and military jeeps, swept into the refugee camp of Tulkarem and opened heavy random fire at civilians’ houses.... Israeli soldiers took over some houses in different parts of the camp and turned them into controlling military posts, according to Palestinian security sources.... Meanwhile, a convoy of Israeli military jeeps rolled into Balata refugee camp of Nablus, eyewitness affirmed.... Palestinian security sources said that fifteen Israeli military jeeps stormed the camp, amid heavy gunfire, and positioned at al-Jammaseen neighbourhood.... Moreover, IOF arrested early Monday eleven civilians; nine in the West Bank and two in Gaza Strip, witnesses and security sources said.... IOF, backed by a number of military jeeps, broke into Nablus City village of Zawata, conducted a house-to house search campaign and arrested Billal Zawatia, 20, Faraj, 21, Musab Abu Ruz, 21, and Tareq Al Russan, 19, according to witnesses.... In Bethlehem, Israeli troops stormed early Monday the city refugee camp of Aida and arrested three civilians.... Security sources said that the Israeli soldiers moved into the camp, and conducted a wide-scale search campaign, shortly before arresting Amir al Amir, 23, Mohammed Karaja, 23 and Faddy Naser Allah, 24.... In Qalqilia City, IOF broke early Monday into the city town of Kfor Thulth, besieged a number of civilian houses and arrested two civilians.... Eyewitnesses told reporters that Israeli soldiers stormed the town and arrested Esmail, 20 and Ibrahim Shawahna, 19. They were led into an unknown place.... In Khanyunis City, IOF arrested early Monday two sisters in Al Qarara area of the city.... Nassar Abu Daher, their father, told WAFA that the Israeli troops incurred into the area, stormed the house of his daughter Huda, 29, a mother of four children, and arrested her with her sister Rasha, 17. They were led into an unknown place....
