RAMALLAH, Thursday, June 11, 2020 (WAFA) – The escalation of Israeli demolitions of Palestinian structures and land grab and to the virtual meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss Israel’s illegal annexation move hit the front page headlines in the three Palestinian Arabic dailies published today.

Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Israeli occupation authorities delivered demolition orders against several structures in Qarawat Bani Hassan town, west of Salfit city in the north of the West Bank.

The dailies also reported that Israeli occupation authorities issued military orders to seize 160 dunums of Palestinian land in the northern West Bank district of Qalqilya located in the city and the villages of Habla and Nabi Elias.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam added in this regard that Israeli bulldozers were actively working on opening settler-only roads in the north and east of the occupied West Bank.

The settler-only roads will be constructed on Palestinian land south of Nablus city and the central Jordan Valley.

The OIC virtual meeting on the level of foreign ministers to discuss Israel’s impending annexation move also dominated the front page headlines in the dailies.

The dailies reported in this regard that OIC pledged to act against Israel’s aggressive threats using all political, legal and diplomatic procedures.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida elaborated that OIC emphasized the State of Palestine’s sovereignty over all the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, and reiterated support for President Mahmoud Abbas’ peace initiative.

International and regional states stances slamming Israel over its latest plan to annex Palestinian land featured as a main front page news item.

French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Agnès Von Der Mühll was reported in the dailies reiterating her country’s position that the only lasting way to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the two-state solution.

She was also reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida warning that Israel’s annexation of parts of the West Bank was a violation of international law and would not go unanswered or without consequences.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported Austria and Greece affirming their commitment to the European Union’s position, international law and the United Nations resolutions.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam highlighted German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas’ remarks during his meeting with Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu.

Maas was reported warning Netanyahu against the repercussions of the annexation move, and reaffirming his country’s commitment to the two-state solution.

Furthermore, al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida spotlighted Premier Mohammad Shtayyeh’s virtual meeting with Maas and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi over the annexation move.

Shtayyeh was reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida urging Germany to pressure Israel to reverse the annexation plan.

Maas was reported slamming the annexation plan as an imminent regional danger and a major escalation.

Safadi was reported affirming his country’s ongoing engagement with partners to prevent the annexation move.

According to al-Hayat al-Jadida, Israeli forces detained 25 Palestinians, including brothers, in multiple West Bank raids.

Al-Ayyam added that Israeli police detained six Palestinian young men from the Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya.

Al-Quds said that Israel advanced a new plan to construct 1,294 new settler units in the colonial settlement of Adam, northeast of Jerusalem, on lands seized from the nearby Palestinian towns of Mikhmas, Jaba and Hizma.

Regarding the spread of the novel coronavirus in the occupied territories, the dailies reported that four Palestinians tested positive for the virus in the besieged Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Al-Quds published a news analysis titled Netanyahu’s intention to annex 30 percent of the West Bank divides Trump’s team.

According to al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida, a Chinese medical expert team arrived to Palestine.

They said that the World Bank contributed $10 million to fund the operation and maintenance of Gaza wastewater treatment plant.

Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Minister Riyad Malki was reported in al-Ayyam affirming his ministry’s ongoing efforts to secure the return of some 6,355 Palestinians stranded abroad.
