RAMALLAH, Friday, June 05, 2020 (WAFA) – Foreign and Expatriates Minister Riyad al-Malki Thursday expressed his solidarity with Brazil, where the death coronavirus toll topped 34,000.
Al-Malki sent a letter to his Brazilian counterpart Ernesto Araújo, expressing the Palestinian leadership and people’s solidarity with the leadership and people of Brazil, where 1,473 people died due to the pandemic over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 34,021.
He commended the Brazilian government and institutions for their efforts in battling the pandemic and expressed the Palestinian people and leadership’s condolences to the families of the victims.
He expressed his gratitude for the Brazilian government for the financial support it provided to the Palestinian government and the United Nations agency responsible for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) to help Palestine face the COVID-19 crisis.
He briefed his Brazilian counterpart on the Israeli measures which devastate the peace process and the two-state solution and undermine the prospects for a political solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, with particular focus on Israel’s looming move to annex large swaths of the West Bank.
He affirmed the deep bilateral Palestinian-Brazilian relations and the importance of promoting them based on respecting United Nations (UN) resolutions and defending the Charter of the UN.
