Palestinians in Masafer Yatta vow to block Israeli settlers’ efforts to build an illegal outpost

HEBRON, Monday, June 1, 2020 (WAFA) – Palestinians in Masafer Yatta in the south of the West Bank vowed to block Israeli settlers’ efforts to build an illegal outpost on their land, according to Fouad al-Amoor, a local activist.

He told WAFA that settlers from the illegal settlements of Maon and Havat Maon placed a mobile home next to a tent they set up yesterday on land part of the village of Tuwani in Masafer Yatta as part of their effort to build an illegal settlement outpost in that area.

Area residents and activists also set up a tent in the area to confront the settlers and prevent them from taking over the land or build the outpost, said al-Amoor.

Masafer Yatta is located in Area C of the occupied West Bank. Area C makes up around 60 percent of the area of the West Bank and is under full Israeli military control. Israel plans to annex most of Area C and expel its Palestinian population.
