JERUSALEM, Wednesday, January 01, 2020 (WAFA) – The Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem demolished early today a Palestinian-owned house in Silwan neighbourhood of occupied East Jerusalem under the pretext it was built without a permit, according to a local activist.

Khaled Abu Tayeh, member of the Silwan Land Defense Committee, told WAFA that reinforced Israeli police cordoned off the area where the house is located as a municipality bulldozer proceeded to demolish the one-story, two-apartment house owned by Yazid Khallayleh and his brother Mohannad.

Palestinians say they are forced to build without a permit because getting one, particularly in areas close to the Old City of Jerusalem such as Silwan, is almost impossible to get as the privilege of getting permits is reserved only to Jewish settlers.
