HEBRON, October 5, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists pursued a group of Palestinian workers today near the Huwara area, east of Yatta in the southern Hebron governorate, firing live ammunition into the air. Local sources reported that several of the workers were subsequently detained.
Circulated video footage showed one of the workers lying on the ground with his hands bound after being assaulted by the colonists.
Local sources reported that the workers being pursued were from the town of Beit Kahil, northwest of Hebron—a group of ten men from the Al-Atawneh, Al-Asafra, and Al-Zuhour families. They were subjected to a severe beating, resulting in bleeding wounds and contusions for some.
This assault coincides with the killing of one worker and the injury of two others—one seriously and one moderately—by Israeli occupation forces today, Monday, near the entrance to the town of Bani Naim, southeast of Hebron.
The General Authority of Civil Affairs announced that one citizen was killed and two young men were wounded, one seriously and the other moderately. Both were transferred to hospitals inside the 1948 territories.
Local sources confirmed that the three young men targeted by occupation soldiers were workers on their way to their jobs.
Areas south of Hebron are witnessing a continuous escalation in attacks by colonists and occupation forces against residents—particularly workers and farmers—amidst growing restrictions on movement and attempts to prevent them from reaching their workplaces and lands. This is part of a policy aimed at undermining the Palestinian presence in the area and imposing new facts on the ground.
