Abbas to visit Norway on official visit

 

RAMALLAH, Wednesday, September 18, 2019 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas is set to begin on Thursday a three-day official visit to Norway, according to the President’s Adviser for Diplomatic Affairs Majdi Khaldi.

Speaking to Voice of Palestine radio, Khaldi said that the President is expected to meet with the Crown Prince of Norway Haakon Magnus, the Prime Minister Erna Solbergand the Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide before paying a visit to the Parliament of Norway.

He pointed out that this visit is meant to express gratitude to the Norwegian government and people for their continuous support to the Palestinian people and cause.

He emphasized Norway’s important role as a key donor to the UN agency responsible for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) and chair of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee’s upcoming meeting, scheduled on September 26, in New York.

Khaldi said that the President is set to leave for New York after his Norway visit in order to participate in the upcoming session of the UN General Assembly, where he is expected to deliver a speech and meet with more than 50 political figures.
