Newspaper review: Injuries by Israeli forces in Al-Ezariya focus of dailies

RAMALLAH, Sunday, September 15, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Sunday issue on the injury of 45 Palestinians, including a 6-year-old girl, by Israeli forces during a raid of the town of Al-Ezariya, east of Jerusalem, yesterday.

Al-Ayyam and al-Quds said a 6-year-old girl was directly hit by a gas canister in her head by Israeli forces during a raid of Al-Ezariya, while around 44 others sustained suffocation from toxic gas inhalation.

Meanwhile, Al-Hayat al-Jadida and Al-Quds quoted President Mahmoud Abbas as saying, “We will sure have a great homeland and a great sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.”

The three dailies also quoted the President as saying that, “Within a year there must inevitably be no patient being treated abroad”. He said in reference to current efforts to boost the health sector in Palestine.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Presidency strongly condemned the drone attacks earlier yesterday which hit two oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, describing them as a serious escalation that ignites further tensions in the region.

Al-Quds and Al-Ayyam said the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will be extraordinarily meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, today to discuss Israel’s plan to annex parts of the occupied West Bank.

Al-Ayyam said the Foreign Ministry of Oman condemned in a statement Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent threat to annex the Jordan Valley to Israeli sovereignty.
