Jerusalem’s religious and civic leaders reject new Israeli measures at Aqsa Mosque

JERUSALEM, July 24, 2017 (WAFA) – Jerusalem’s religious and civic leaders Monday reiterated after a meeting in Jerusalem their rejection of Israeli measures at Al-Aqsa Mosque, saying any act that will affect freedom of worship and Muslim rule over Al-Aqsa Mosque will not be accepted.

The religious and civic leaders were referring to Israeli installation of new X-Ray vision video cameras that can see through clothing that may replace the metal detectors the Israeli police had installed last week at the gates to Al-Aqsa Mosque, which have caused high level of tension in the occupied city.

Palestinians boycotted the metal detectors and refused to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque going through them.

“In light of the obstinacy of the occupation authority and its determination to escalate the situation by proceeding with its arbitrary measures against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the residents of Jerusalem, the local leaders are determined to continue with their opposition to these arbitrary procedures as well as rejecting any attempt by the occupation to impose its rule over Al-Aqsa Mosque,” said the statement.
