JERUSALEM, July 12, 2017 (WAFA) – A high level Palestinian delegation headed by chief negotiator and secretary general of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, held talks on Tuesday in Jerusalem with US special peace envoy Jason Greenblatt and his US team.
The Palestinian delegation stressed at the meeting that Israel should stop all settlement activities, including in East Jerusalem, until there is an end to the Israeli occupation and the establishment of the independent Palestinian state on the June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The delegation also said that the Palestinian position is based on international law and United Nations resolutions.
In addition to Erekat, the Palestinian team included chief of intelligence Majed Faraj and Mohammed Mustafa, head of the Palestinian Investment Fund, an arm of the Palestinian Authority.
The US team included US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman and US Consul General in Jerusalem Donald Blome, in addition to Greenblatt, who arrived in the region on Monday in his sixth trip to revive the stalled Palestinian-Israeli peace process.
